BARAWSKI TATTOOING TATTOO AFTERCARE

This tattoo aftercare is specific for techniques, machines and products such as inks used by Bara. Please forget what you may already know about the healing process or what you have been told by other artists. Just follow this instructions and informations step by step for a long lasting tattoo result.

The first thing you must consider is to have a day off after a tattoo session. Your immune system is weak, you need rest and it is normal to feel tired the days after; if you can’t take a day off make sure to have an easy day ahead, especially if you got tattooed sensitive parts of the body like feet, knees and hips. In any case, take it easy and allow your body to recover.

AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

DAY 0: Once you leave the shop you must keep the pad applied by Bara until the following morning.

DAY 1: Remove the pad in the morning using clean hands, wash the tattoo with warm water and antibacterial soap and remove excess ink, blood and plasma. Finally rinse with just cold water. Dab dry the tattoo with a clean towel and apply the pad provided. Make sure the pad adhere to the tattoo without being to tight, so it will absorbe all the fluids coming out. If you work from home and you can stay in a clean environment, do not apply the pad in the morning. Keep the tattoo clean and wash it from time to time and allow it to air dry. Apply the pad when is needed like you are going out or you need to put clothes on the tattoo area. Then keep it on until the following morning.

If you are going to put the pad in the morning of day 1 you must change it again in the evening. In this case remove the first pad you applied, wash the tattoo in the same exact way, dab dry and apply the second pad provided. Keep it overnight until the next morning.
If you don’t have a reserve pad for the evening try to get one from the store or worst case keep the one you applied in the morning on.

  • Warm water open pours and cold water close the pours, a fresh tattoo is an open wound and we want the skin to close as quickly as possible.
  • Make sure the tattoo doesn’t feel slimy or slippery. Wash it again everytime it doesn’t feel fresh and clean.
  • Always wash the tattoo in a shower or with running water, never soak in the bath.
  • Always dab dry, never rub the tattoo.
  • Use a clean personal towel and not a shared one. Do not use paper towel, it loose fabric leaving the tattoo dirty and irritated.
  • The pad shouldn’t feel loose, don’t leave a gap between the pad and the tattoo otherwise all the fluids are coming out will dry over the tattoo resulting in
scabs. Ask someone to help you if you aren’t able to apply the pad on your own as Bara did.
  • Use tape (and bandages if possible) to secure the pad tight enough.
  • You’ll find the tattoo “printed” on the pad, this is what we want.
  • If the pads are dirty after days means the tattoo is not dry yet.

DAY 2: Remove the pad from the previous day always with clean hands, wash with warm water and antibacterial soap and remove excess ink, then rinse using just cold water. Give the tattoo the entire day to dry out, do not moisturize until next day, just keep it clean and washed if need it.

  • Keep the tattoo protected with clean clothes during sleep time, like a long sleeve or loose truck suit depending on the area you got tattooed, especially if you are sharing bed. Cotton or natural fiber clothes are the best because they do not irritate the skin.

DAY 3: The tattoo should be completely dry at this point. If the tattoo is still leaking or feels wet give it an extra 24 hours of air dry, NO CREAM and NO WATER, just keep it always by repeating the washing process clean and let it dry out.

Following this, when the tattoo feels nice and is not leaking anymore apply a thin layer of cocoa butter once/twice a day for the next 3/4 weeks.

  • Please make sure the tattoo is completely dry in all its parts, because you cannot apply the cream if the tattoo is wet or put on clothes. This is estremely
important otherwise there’s a risk of contracting infections.
  • If possible use the Palmer’s cocoa butter lotion Bara recommend when you booked your appoiment.
General information
  • A tattoo is an open wound and will become itchy when it is healing. Do not scratch it, otherwise you will damage the tattoo.
  • Avoid leather and synthetic fabrics, prefer loose cotton or linen clothes so the tattoo won’t get irritated.
  • Be gentle when you clean your tattoo and do not use excess water.
  • Keep the area you got tattooed elevated when it is possible. For example you could use a couple of pillows to keep your leg elevated and avoid blood and liquids to flow down to your ankle.
  • Scabs are rare, but in case you have them do not apply the cream and do not scratch them. Cream the rest of the tattoo but let the scabs dry out and fall on their own.
  • The tattoo can be painful the day after. Take a day off or 2 days if you got a big area tattooed, so you can give the skin the time needed to settle and start the healing process.
  • Do not use fake tan, perfume, cosmetics or any other products different from the cocoa butter on your tattoo.
  • Do not go swimming, use a sun bed or go to the gym for at least one week after. If the tattoo feels painful after 1 week forget about the workout and take care of the healing. Give your body time to rest.

Again, please this is a specific aftercare for the tattoo you got by Bara. Every step is foundamental and important for the best healing possible, Please follow it. If you have any problem or doubts, please don’t hesitate to contact Bara. Thank you
